A dual-laser engraver is not automatically the best choice for every buyer. If nearly all of your work is wood, leather, paper or dark acrylic, a single blue-diode machine can be the simpler and less expensive starting point. A dual-laser machine becomes valuable when your product range also includes bare metals and plastics.

What the second laser actually changes
The 10W blue diode is the starting point for wood, bamboo, leather, paper, fabric, dark opaque acrylic, tinted glass and many coated surfaces. It can also perform light cutting with suitable settings.
The 2W infrared laser is designed for fine marking on many metals and plastics. It is the important difference when your products include jewelry, metal business cards, tools, tags, electronics housings or plastic components.

When a single-laser machine is enough
- Your catalog is mostly wood signs, leather patches, paper goods or dark acrylic.
- You are validating demand and want the lowest practical starting cost.
- Direct bare-metal marking is not part of the offer.
- You prefer a narrow, repeatable material menu over maximum flexibility.
In these cases, buying LP4 only because it has two lasers may add cost without improving the jobs you actually sell.

Does a dual-laser engraver cut twice as well?
No. The two sources are optimized for different material interactions. The infrared laser adds marking flexibility; it does not turn LP4 into a high-power production cutter.
Can a blue diode engrave metal?
It can work on some coated, painted or specially prepared metal surfaces. Direct results on bare metals vary. The infrared source is the more appropriate starting point for many bare-metal marking jobs.
